Did you know some Toyota vehicle owners have no choice but to replace the cars computer once the last spare key is lost? Not every vehicle was transponder based, but those that were need the computer changed to be able to program new keys so the car will start and run again. Transponders are basically a computer chip which tells the vehicles computer that the right key is being used, and it is ok to start the vehicle. Did you know if you lose your only vehicles' key to an older Honda or Toyota vehicle that you could have to replace your immobilizer unit in the vehicle right alongside the keys? When Toyota and Honda first introduced transponder based systems in their vehicles to prevent auto theft, the immobilizer unit in these vehicles was meant to be replaced along with the keys.
